Is Your Family from Scotland?

It is almost always the first question I get asked when I first meet people while I am wearing a kilt. The simple answer is Yes. I can trace the McNary part of my family back to Scotland pre-revolutionary war. So there is definitely some heritage there, but we have been in America since before it was even America. But who knows what else has come in to the line since then. My mom’s side of the family is largely German, with at least one Native American ancestor several generations back. I’m a mutt, like most American’s.

Then, why a kilt? Well, mostly because they are awesome. I love the look and tradition of the kilt. They are comfortable, beautiful, and unique. In a world with constantly changing fashion that I can’t keep up with, a kilt allows me to express my weird personality while still maintaining just enough of a professional demeanor to fit in when I need to.
